SafeSchools David Douglas Parent Trainings

SafeSchools Training is an online compliance system that allows school districts across the state of Oregon to easily train staff members on school-related safety issues to demonstrate state and federal compliance with safety mandates. SafeSchools courses have been authored by nationally renowned experts, and has been endorsed by a number of school boards and superintendent associations nationwide.

As a district parent, you may register to take suggested training for Child Abuse: Identification & Intervention, Sexual Conduct: Staff-to-Student and Cyberbullying. There are two ways to do this:

David Douglas School District Drug Testing and Criminal Background Check
Per district policy all offers of employment shall be contingent upon the successful passing of a district required drug test and criminal background check. David Douglas School District’s Human Resources will designate where and when the testing will be conducted. The offer of employment will be withdrawn from candidates who test positive for drugs.

Benefits & Salary Schedule

The salary schedule is based on training and experience. For the 2013-2014 school year, the schedule ranges from:

BA Degree - $39,643 - $73,644 (BA + 105 graduate credit hours)
MA Degree - $44,026 - $74,482 (MA + 45 graduate credit hours)

Employment Opportunities


Thank you for your interest in the David Douglas School District. Teaching vacancies are first advertised to probationary and permanent District staff. Teaching vacancies open to external applicants will appear on the District website, TalentEd Recruit & Hire, and if necessary, placement services and newspapers. These postings are updated when new vacancies occur.

The David Douglas School District no longer accepts hard copy applications. Instead, we utilize the TalentEd Recruit & Hire website for all Licensed applications. The District will maintain and review a bank of applications that it receives through this website.

The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) of Oregon has an informative web site to help you with all your licensing questions.

Verification of Employment

Verification of employment is done by fax only. To request verification of employment, send to the main fax number in the District Office, (503) 256-5218, your request along with a signed release from the employee. Please direct this request to the attention of the Payroll Department.

Volunteer Procedures

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the David Douglas School District. Individuals wishing to volunteer within the District must complete a Volunteer Application Packet. The Volunteer Application Packet documents are available in each school office, and are also listed below. Please submit your completed documents to the secretary at the school where you wish to volunteer. The packet will contain a volunteer application and criminal background check form.
