Volunteer Help Wanted

Welcome to the David Douglas School District Volunteer Help Wanted section. Just like a newspaper's help wanted section, this page is designed to match people looking to volunteer in our schools with specific volunteer needs in our schools.

Click here to view Volunteer Procedures.

Especially as school budgets shrink, we know many of our community members want to help, but they may not know what they can do, or what needs exist. Sometimes a neighbor may walk into a school offering to help, but the school isn't prepared with an immediate task or duty for them. Hopefully, this Help Wanted Section will make it easier for both the school and potential volunteers.

We will post specific volunteer needs from our schools below, with contact information. As those positions are filled, the postings will be removed and new ones added as new needs arise. So keep checking back.

Opportunities to help out with the DDHS Senior All Night Party!
Adult volunteers and volunteer coordinators are needed to help with the David Douglas Senior All Night Drug and Alcohol Free Party. This party has been a tradition at David Douglas High School for over 10 years. The PTSA needs your help to present this event to the graduating class of 2013. Junior, sophomore and freshman parents - We need your help now to insure this party will continue to be a tradition for your future senior students at DDHS!

Party details
The party is scheduled to start at 11:00pm on Wednesday, June 5th, the same night of graduation. It will end at 5:00am the following day, June 6th. Facility reservations have already been made for the 2013 grads party location.

Here are the committees we need your help with:

Decoration Committee
Help plan and prepare the party site for the arrival of seniors.

Facebook Page Committee
Keep the DDHS Senior All Night Party (SANP) Facebook page up-to-date with events and news concerning the SANP.

Memory Book Committee
It's a small book handed out at the party. It contains farewell notes and quotes from teachers and administrators, as well as all sorts of fun stuff from the Class of 2013 tenure at the high school.

Ticket Sales Committee
If you like making money, this is the spot for you! You’ll plan ticket sales, marketing etc.

Food Committee
Plan the menu and help with food the night of the event.

Community Donation Letters
Mailings and community outreach to businesses in the David Douglas School District to help pay for party and obtain gift donations for our class seniors to be given at their party.

If you are interested in helping in some small way, please send us an email at http://www.daviddouglashighschool.my-pta.org

Volunteer with SMART® and Help Children
Discover the Joy of Reading!
SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) is an early literacy nonprofit that envisions an Oregon in which every child can read and is empowered to succeed. Community volunteers help PreK-3rd grade children become confident readers by providing one-on-one literacy support, valuable adult mentorship, and books to take home and keep.

Volunteer readers are needed for one hour per week from NOW through mid-May at Gilbert Heights, Menlo Park, and the Earl Boyles PreK program. Applications are accepted year-round.

To sign up to volunteer, or to learn more about SMART, call 971-634-1616 or visit www.getSMARToregon.org and help start making a reader today!
