Now is the time to enroll in kindergarten for kids who will be five years old by September 1. We encourage families to complete registration by early June, before offices close for the summer.

In addition to allowing your child time to become familiar with their school and teacher, registering before the break gives our staff time to prepare the classroom for your child and gives us the opportunity to invite your student(s) to various activities that happen throughout the summer, such as our Early Kindergarten Transition (EKT) program.

Who Can Begin Kindergarten This Fall

Children who:

  • Live within David Douglas School District boundaries
  • Will be five years old on or before September 1st, 2023

Early Kindergarten Transition Program (EKT)

Each summer David Douglas School District hosts a two week program designed to prepare students for starting kindergarten in the fall. The Early Kindergarten Transition Program (EKT), also known as Jumpstart to Kindergarten, is a safe and welcoming introduction to kindergarten for students and families. This program is specifically for students attending kindergarten in David Douglas School District. Learn more about EKT and complete an online application here. Students need to be registered for Kindergarten BEFORE registering for EKT.

Registration for the summer EKT program closes June 9th.
