Celebrating Black History Month at David Douglas School District

This February, David Douglas School District is excited to celebrate the amazing contributions and achievements of Black and African Americans throughout history.

Our school community continues learning, exploring, and thinking about the empowering stories of influential Black and African American leaders, artists, scientists, and activists who have significantly impacted our country.

Our Alice Ott Middle School Equity Team created our Black History Month slide deck that includes the following:

  • Why Black History Matters in Oregon
  • Age-appropriate literacy resources
  • A variety of our local black-owned businesses
  • Local Black History Month events

Please join us in celebrating Black History Month by attending our 2024 Black Excellence Showcase on Friday, February 16th, from 5:30 to 7:30 at Floyd Light Middle School.
