Indigenous Student Union (ISU)

The ISU was formed in 2021 as an effort to bring Native American and Native Alaskan students together to:

  • Learn more about Native Culture
  • Celebrate Indigenous Heritage
  • Participate in cultural activities

The ISU has since expanded to include respectful allies, to

  • Spread awareness of issues impacting Native communities
  • Gain a better understanding of Indigenous peoples
  • Support a culturally inclusive learning environment at DDHS

When and Where?

Partnerships:

ISU works with The David Douglas School District, Native American Parental Advisory Council (NAPAC) and Community Partners to crate opportunities for DDSD families, including:

  • Cultural Nights
  • Native American Graduation Honoring Ceremony
  • Field Trips to Powwows and other community events
  • Workshops on traditional practices such as beadwork and more!
