Indigenous Student Union (ISU)
The ISU was formed in 2021 as an effort to bring Native American and Native Alaskan students together to:
- Learn more about Native Culture
- Celebrate Indigenous Heritage
- Participate in cultural activities
The ISU has since expanded to include respectful allies, to
- Spread awareness of issues impacting Native communities
- Gain a better understanding of Indigenous peoples
- Support a culturally inclusive learning environment at DDHS
When and Where?
Wednesdays during lunch in Room 144 at DDHS
Partnerships:
ISU works with The David Douglas School District, Native American Parental Advisory Council (NAPAC) and Community Partners to crate opportunities for DDSD families, including:
- Cultural Nights
- Native American Graduation Honoring Ceremony
- Field Trips to Powwows and other community events
- Workshops on traditional practices such as beadwork and more!
