For the 7th consecutive year, the David Douglas School District has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation (National Association of Music Merchants).
Only 527 districts nationwide — and just two in Oregon — received the distinction for 2017. The Culver School District was the other recognized district in Oregon.
The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education an important and robust part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.
Beginning with our School Board, David Douglas has a long history of embracing a strong music education program, with full-time music teachers at every level and wide offerings and opportunities from grades 5-12. Our administrators are supportive of nurturing healthy music programs and opportunities for our students. And our music teachers are dedicated, selfless educational professionals who lay it on the line everyday for their students.
Thank a music teacher today!
