Two David Douglas schools are winners of the Fire up Your Feet spring challenge, presented by the Safe Routes to School National Partnership.
Fire Up Your Feet is a month long national competition for grades K-8. The challenge is aimed at increasing physical activity before, during and after school for students, parents, school staff and teachers. Schools competed throughout the month of May.
Floyd Light Middle School won a $500 Rookie of the Year award as a brand new school that participated in Fire Up Your Feet for the first time! Earl Boyles Elementary School won a $250 Comeback Award, since they had returned to the competition after a break in participating.
