School Board Notes

During visiting delegations, First Vice Commander John Bolner of American Legion Post #1 presented a donation of $1,000 to be split between Celtic Heart, Mill Park and Lincoln Park. This annual donation by the American Legion post is in addition to the $3,000 per year it gives to David Douglas baseball.

A group of Alice Ott administrators, teachers and students provided a presentation on its culturally responsive teaching practices.

In action items, the Board approved an allotment of 50 outgoing and 50 incoming inter-district transfer students for the 2018-19 school year. Following a presentation on the elementary math adoption process for the the 2018-18 school year, the Board approved the adoption of LearnZillion as the District’s new math curriculum for elementary grades.

In other business, Board Chair Larsen asked if the District’s driver’s education program could enroll more students, and Board Member del Rocio asked for an update on YouthPass. Staff said they would report back on both requests during the May Board meeting.
