The David Douglas School Board has issued a proclamation declaring Monday, Oct. 8 as Indigenous Peoples’ Day, recognizing the significant contributions to our society and District by the wide variety of people and cultures native to the Americas.
More than 1,000 students in David Douglas, or 10% of all District students, self-identify as being — at least in part — Native American. These students can trace their roots to native cultures that originated throughout South America, Central America and North America.
Please join us in recognizing these cultures and celebrating our families and students who proudly carry them forward. The School Board’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day Proclamation is linked below.
