The District is beginning to build our 2022-23 budget, and we need your help. The District also received millions of dollars from the Oregon Student Investment Act (SIA), and even more from the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) in response to the COVID pandemic.

We are hosting a series of virtual community meetings to talk about it all. Want to know how we are spending more than $7 million in SIA funds? Come to the meetings. Want to know how we are spending $29 million in ESSER funds? Come to the meetings. 

Just before the pandemic hit, we held a series of successful meetings to get your input on how to spend our SIA funds, and we followed your directions, investing it in reduced class sizes, health and safety and your child’s well-rounded education. We want to report back to you exactly how those funds were spent. We also want your input on how to spend the next round of SIA funding next year.

After the pandemic hit, the federal government sent millions of dollars to schools, including ours. Much of those funds have been allocated or are planned to help us respond to COVID – distance learning, remote technology, hybrid school, PPE, back to in-person instruction. We want to tell you what we did with that money and get your feedback for moving forward.

We are also planning for our regular, 2022-23 school year general fund budget. This is, after all, your money. What should be our priorities? How should we be spending these funds to best help all of our students and families Learn, Grow and Thrive?

Join us at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30 on Zoom, and let’s talk about it. This is the first of a series of community discussions about funding that will be held into January. 

Another meeting will be held on December 7th at 6pm. The meeting on December 7th is for everyone, but there will be a Spanish interpreter. 

We will announce more dates as they come closer. There will be additional meetings for specific languages. Stay tuned!

Our meetings will use Zoom’s polling feature to collect community input. In order to participate in the polls, please make sure you are running Zoom version 5.8.3 or later (the latest version can be downloaded here).
