Teacher Appreciation Week

Please join the David Douglas School District in celebrating our phenomenal teachers. May 8-12 is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and Tuesday, May 9 is National Teacher Day.

Hundreds of teachers are working directly with students every day in our buildings, creating relationships, sparking engagement and inspiring lives. Great teachers are an absolute requirement for a healthy democracy that is made up of critical thinkers and knowledgeable voters. Teaching is definitely one of our country’s “hero” professions.

Teachers are also one of the few professions that almost anyone can remember back through their lives and immediately identify a favorite, that one teacher who unleashed the joy of learning and transformed a life.

Spend this week thanking as many teachers as you see. And as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we especially challenge you to think back on that one teacher who opened the world for you and, if possible, connect with them somehow and thank them for the impact they had on your life.

Visit the National PTA website for ideas on how to thank a teacher!
