Conferences provide an opportunity for families and teachers to connect and discuss students’ strengths, academic progress, social development, and overall performance in school.
David Douglas School District values interpersonal relationships, family engagement, and collaboration. Conferences allow us to build relationships between our families, teachers, and school staff.
We are committed to collaborating with our families to ensure each David Douglas student can Learn, Grow, and Thrive so that they can be a force for positive change in the global society.
What are some questions you can ask your teacher(s)?
- What is my child expected to learn this year?
- How are they progressing?
- What are my child’s strengths? It is important to reinforce and build on their strengths. Use this opportunity to share with the teacher(s) what you see as strengths in your child.
- In which areas does my child need improvement? How can we support learning at home? It is an opportunity to share with teachers what strategies you are already using or doing at home.
After conferences, take a moment to reflect with your child about the positive things you learned and discussed with their teacher(s) and the next steps to continue their learning.
Families, let’s team up to support our students!
