DISTRICT SEEKS SCHOOL BOARD APPLICANTS
The David Douglas School Board seeks applicants to fill a pending vacancy on the Board. Board member Katherine Sherman has resigned from Board Position 7, effective December 14, 2023. The School Board intends to select a replacement Board member during its February 8 Board meeting.
More than three years remain in the current term of office for Position 7 and expires in June, 2027.
The applicant selected by the Board will be sworn in on February 8. By Board Policy, the appointed Board member will serve until June, 2025, which is the next election year. An election will be held in May, 2025, and the winner of that election will complete the final two years of the term, beginning July 1. Applicants must be residents of the David Douglas School District for at least one full year, and they must be a citizen and registered voter.
Applicants must submit an application form to the Superintendent’s Office, 11300 NE Halsey St., Portland, 97220, or email at laurie_brunelle@ddsd40.org. The application form is attached to this communication, and must be submitted no later than 5 pm Friday, January 12.

Applicants will be asked to give a 5-minute presentation to the Board during its January 25th Board workshop, which begins at 6 pm at David Douglas School District Boardroom, 1500 SE 130th Ave. Based on the application forms and the presentations, the Board will select a replacement on February 8.
