Consistent Attendance is Key

Spring is just around the corner, and we want to remind families that consistent attendance is key to student success. Every day in class provides valuable learning opportunities, helping students stay on track academically and socially.

However, we also understand that seasonal illnesses can still occur. When students feel well, they should be at school—but when should you keep your child home?

Keep your student home if they have:

  • A fever of 100.4°F or higher, along with other symptoms such as a rash, sore throat, or vomiting more than once.
  • Diarrhea (frequent, loose, or watery stools).
  • A persistent cough that hasn’t been diagnosed or cleared by a physician.
  • Redness and drainage in the eye(s) could be a sign of an infection.

If your child has mild cold symptoms, like a runny nose or slight congestion, they can still attend school! Teaching them good hygiene—such as frequent handwashing and covering coughs—can help prevent the spread of germs.

Track Your Child’s Attendance

You can monitor your student’s attendance using our DDSD attendance tracker to ensure they are on track for success.
