We are thrilled to share that Valoree Hill, Assistant Principal at David Douglas High School (DDHS) and proud DDHS graduate, has been selected as a 2025 Women of Vision honoree by the Daily Journal of Commerce. This prestigious recognition celebrates the women who are shaping the built environment with their technical skill, leadership, mentoring, community involvement and the creation of opportunities for the future generation.
For 16 years, Valoree has been a dedicated educator in the David Douglas community, including two years in school administration. Her leadership is deeply connected to her personal experience as a former DDHS student. She understands firsthand the strengths, needs, and aspirations of our culturally rich and diverse student body, and she leads with the goal of ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and challenged to succeed.
As a driving force behind the growth of the district’s Career & Technical Education pathways, she has increased access to industry-aligned programs, secured innovative grant funding, and ensured students gain real-world, hands-on experience. Valoree also played a key leadership role in planning the new 50,000-square-foot DDHS CTE Center, keeping student voice and future-ready learning at the forefront. Her work reflects a vision of education as a launchpad for every student’s success, positioning her as a catalyst for positive change within the district.
“Valoree has been an exceptional partner to every construction and planning team involved in our CTE expansion. Her clarity, collaboration, and commitment to keeping students at the center have guided each phase of this work. We are fortunate to have her leadership driving these projects and moving our district forward,” shared Jennifer Buscher, DDHS Principal.
In response to the recognition, Valoree comments, “I never imagined that in my chosen field I would have the opportunity to help design and build a multi-million-dollar CTE facility. It has been such a phenomenal experience, and I am so excited to see the impact this new building will have on our students. We have the most amazing students here, and now we will have a space that truly prepares them for their futures.”

Valoree Hill’s recognition as a 2025 Woman of Vision reflects her unwavering dedication to students, her visionary leadership, and her commitment to building brighter futures for our community. We congratulate Valoree on this incredible honor and express our gratitude for her ongoing leadership and dedication to our students and community.
