Welcome to April!

Arab American Heritage Month

At David Douglas, we believe every student’s story matters. We celebrate Arab American Heritage by honoring the history and achievements of the Arab American community. We appreciate the invaluable contributions our Arab American students, families and staff make to our district every day.

Celebrate Diversity Month

Our schools are at their best when everyone feels they belong. As we observe Celebrate Diversity Month, we want to honor the diverse traditions and identities of our students and staff. We value an inclusive learning environment where all students feel respected and seen for who they are.

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day: April 1

We celebrate our incredible paraprofessionals who provide vital support to our students every single day. Whether they are assisting in a classroom, leading a small group, or providing one-on-one care, their patience and dedication make a world of difference. At DDSD, we are so grateful for the heart they bring to our schools.

School Librarian Appreciation Day: April 4

DDSD recognizes our wonderful school librarians! They are the heart of our schools’ curiosity, helping our students discover new worlds through books and master the skills to find reliable information in a digital age. From sparking a lifelong love of reading to providing a welcoming space for all, our librarians make David Douglas a brighter place to learn.

National Assistant Principals Week: April 6-10

Our Assistant Principals are often the first to greet us in the morning and the last to see us off at the end of the day. Our Assistant Principals provide the essential leadership that keeps our schools running smoothly while supporting our students. Their hard work is essential to a school environment where everyone can thrive. Thank you to our assistant principals for your leadership and care!

School Bus Driver Appreciation Day: April 28

At DDSD, safety begins with our bus drivers. Navigating busy streets while keeping a watchful eye on our students is a major responsibility that they handle with incredible skill and dedication every day. We honor the hardworking professionals who keep our district moving.

Save the Date! Middle School Conferences

Your partnership is vital to your student’s success. Spring conferences offer a dedicated space to meet with teachers, celebrate progress, and discuss goals for the remainder of the school year. We invite all families to join the conversation and stay active in their child’s learning journey.
