The David Douglas School District communicates news, information and emergency notifications through a variety of platforms. Use these options, not only to keep tabs on the latest news but also to ensure your family receives school closure and emergency notifications. Read about these communications and notifications here.
First Week Schedule:
The school year begins September 7th but the first day of school will vary for students. Schools will communicate the details of their staggered start schedule.
Please note: Late start is not occuring on Wednesday, Sept 8. The PLT late start schedule will begin the following week.
Elementary
The week of August 30, teachers are contacting families to let them know when their first day of school is. Elementary schools have split their student body into three groups based on last name/household. Students will only attend school once during the first three days of school.
Middle School
Tuesday, September 7 – Sixth grade only
Wednesday, September 8 – Seventh grade only
Thursday, September 9 – ALL three grades attend
David Douglas High School
Tuesday, September 7 – Freshmen & Seniors begin school in person;
Sophomores & Juniors attend school online (asynchronous)
Wednesday, September 8 – Sophomores & Juniors attend school in person;
Freshmen attend school online (asynchronous)
Thursday, September 9 – All Students in person (A day)
Friday, September 10 – All students in person (B day)
Fir Ridge Campus
Tuesday, September 7 – First day for all students
Wednesday, September 8 – No late start this Wednesday (school starts at 8:20 am)
Community Transition Program
First day is Monday, Sept. 13

School Meals
David Douglas offers both breakfast and lunch to all students in the district. There is no charge for breakfast or lunch for any families during the 2021-22 school year. Visit the Nutrition Service webpage for menus, nutrition information, and updates on meal service.

Chromebooks
If you have a DDSD Chromebook and charger at home, please have your student bring them when they return to school next week.

School Board Meetings
David Douglas School Board meetings are held at least once a month, typically on the second Thursday of the month. Oftentimes the board will choose to hold a work session, usually on the fourth Thursday of the month. View the 2021-22 meeting schedule and learn more about the board here.

The Happenings Newsletter
Keep tabs on upcoming events with the District’s monthly newsletter. Elementary and middle school students bring the publication home with their school menu. Copies of the Happenings can also be found in school offices or on our District website.
