CTE Topping Off Ceremony
On January 31st, we held a CTE “Topping Off” Ceremony with our administrators, students, workers, architects, and other individuals who have been directly involved with the construction of the CTE building.
Board members, admin, and CTE students were able to walk in the construction site to see the progress.
The summer work will include final sidewalks, canopies and landscaping. Fall work will be interior finishes.

Project Updates
Career Technical Education Center:
Work is continuing on the CTE Center. The summer work will include final sidewalks, canopies and
landscaping. Fall work will be interior finishes.
North High School Renovations:
We have a few renovations happening over the summer including replacing the parking lot driveways and
expanding plantings in the parking lots. These are all nonconforming conditions required due to the new
CTE center. We also planned on replacing the gym bleachers this summer. These may need some
additional reinforcement so we are continuing some discussion on whether this will be needed and what
the cost, if any, would be.
South High School Renovations:
There will be quite a bit of work this summer at the South building. The building is having the roof
replaced, a new water distribution pipe installed, a new fire alarm and intercom system installed, a new
front entry/secure vestibule at the south, renovations to the metals, pottery shed and renovations for
where the print shop will go and the early education program. The main entry driveways will be replaced
due to nonconforming requirements, the walk-in cooler will be replaced, and the air conditioning in the
board room will be replaced. South building will not be available for use during the summer, and we will
need to move Board meetings.
The Football field and baseball field lights will be replaced and intercoms will be added. The old auto shop, greenhouse, and greenhouse classrooms are slated for demolition January 2026.
PAC:
We are replacing the theater roofing and some HVAC ductwork that tied into the roofing. The theater
lights and sound systems will be replaced. A new pathway will be added around the bus loop as part of
the nonconforming conditions for the CTE Center.
Aquatics Center:
Work for this summer includes replacing the north bleachers and will look like the south bleachers, adding an epoxy coating with a nonslip texture which will need to be redone about every 10-15 years. Additional plantings are required as part of the CTE nonconforming conditions. We anticipate the pool to be closed 7-8 weeks to accommodate the work needing to be completed.

Career Technical Education Center:
Walls are up where the auto shop will be. Everything is moving along, and the plan for move-in in December 2025 is still on track.

North High School Renovations:
Open punchlist items include vestibule glass detailing to be addressed over winter break and heat exchanger removal from the boiler room done by the end of December. There are a couple additional items regarding vestibule acoustics and ventilation that we will be addressing. Some settling where the sewer line was replaced will be addressed in the spring when the ground is drier.
High School South Renovations:
This includes upgrades to stadium and baseball field lighting as well as renovations to the South Building. The North High School bleacher replacement and pool bleacher replacements are also planned for next summer.

Dear David Douglas High School Families,
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude once again to all of you who voted in support of the 2022 Bond Measure for the David Douglas School District. Your continued commitment has made it possible for us to enhance our facilities and provide even better opportunities for our students.
Throughout the summer, our high school has been bustling with construction and renovations in preparation for the upcoming school year. We’re excited to share some of the key improvements:
- North Campus Roofing: The roof on our North Campus has been completely replaced, ensuring a safer and more durable structure for years to come.
- North Campus Gym: Our gym has undergone significant renovations, and we are thrilled with how it has turned out. It’s now ready to serve our students and community well.
- New Security Vestibule: As part of our commitment to student safety, we have updated our security vestibule to enhance safety measures at the main entrance of the school. This will further protect students, staff, and visitors by improving controlled access to the building.
- New CTE Building: Construction on our brand-new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building began earlier this summer. This exciting addition will continue to take shape throughout the school year and, once completed, will offer expanded hands-on learning opportunities in various career fields.
We are incredibly excited about what the future holds and are grateful for your unwavering support. Without your dedication and partnership, these improvements and new facilities would not be possible. Together, we are building a brighter future for our students and the entire community.
